I trained first as a pediatric pathologist through a fellowship at the Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas from 1994-1996, after my four year residency in pathology in Birmingham, Alabama at the Baptist Medical Centers . After finishing my fellowship in pediatric pathology, I did on-the-job training in forensic pathology at the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office in Houston, Texas. I became board certified in anatomical and clinical pathology, forensic pathology, and pediatric pathology by the year 2001. I worked as a medical examiner/forensic pathologist for about 13 1/2 years. I performed about 7,000 autopsies in my career as a medical examiner/forensic pathologist. During my training as a pathologist, I taught medical students and others, so teaching was and still is one of my passions. One of my goals in life is to teach others what I know. I am reaching this goal by teaching histology, gross anatomy & embryology, and pathology at the Texas Chiropractic College. I have been teaching at the Texas Chiropractic College since September 2010, and my students love me and enjoy what I am trying to teach them to help them become the best chiropractic physician they can be. My career as a medical examiner helps me to train the future generation in the medical field.
